Created in 1915 by Johnny Gruelle, a newspaper cartoonist and children’s illustrator and author, Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls, and Gruelle’s stories of their adventures were a nearly instant hit with children.  Nearly 92 years after their inception, they continue to inspire deep devotion in children, and nostalgia in adults.   Included in the Library’s program will be legends of the dolls’ creation, the true story behind the first Raggedy Ann doll, Gruelle’s connection to James Whitcomb Riley and the noted impressionist painters known as the Hoosier Group, and other nuggets of Hoosier history, as well as a special Story Time session just for grown-ups.

This program is free, and no registration is required.   For more information, call the Library at 260-356-2900.
