There’s a new way to learn, discover, gather, and grow…on the go. With the new “My HCTPL” app, available for your mobile devices, you can take the library with you wherever you go.
To download, tap the app store you need and search “HCTPL.” Once installed, open the app and log in with your library account information. Familiarize yourself with the app features listed below.
🔎 Search
Tap the Search bar to type in what you’re looking for—a book title, author name, subject, etc. You can filter by Format and Field Type. You can also Sort your results.
Formats: Book, Audiobook, DVD or Blu-ray, E-book, E-audiobook, Magazine, Large Print, Music CD, Video Game, and more
Field Types: Search by title, author, subject, general notes (description), publisher, genre, series, or ISBN (barcode number*)

👉📖 Place a hold
You can place a hold at the touch of a button—it’s that simple. If you’ve found a new popular title in our collection and want to get your name on the waitlist, you can do that here.
In a hurry and don’t have time to browse our shelves? Search for the book you’re looking for and place it on hold. If the book is available, library staff will reserve it for you on our Holds Shelf. You can swing by the library at your earliest convenience, pick up the book, and check it out at either the front desk or a self-checkout station.
🤳📘 Scan a barcode
Find a book you’re interested in while you’re out and about? Use the Scan ISBN Barcode feature on the app to capture the book’s barcode, usually located on the back cover of a book, using your phone camera. The app will search for that unique ISBN (International Standard Book Number) and the search results will determine if we have that book in our library.
💳 Virtual library card
Tap My Barcode to access the barcode to your library card. Parents can save their children’s cards to their app for quick checkout.
📄 Account information
Tap My Account to see your checkouts and holds. You can also renew items and see if you owe any fines. You can update your app preferences and settings here, as well.
📚✨ New and featured titles
Tap New and Featured to see the latest and greatest in fiction, nonfiction, fantasy, sci-fi, cookbooks, and more. These will be updated regularly.
📅✅ Quick access to events, news
Tap Events or News to see what’s happening at the library.
